Fish passage 2024

Connectivity and processes across the riverscape

The 15th International Symposium on Ecohydraulics (ISE 2024) and Fish Passage will be held in Québec City from May 5th to 9th, 2024 at the Hôtel le Concorde Québec. This joint event aims to foster discussions on research and management of aquatic ecosystems, and how their connectivity and processes are being impacted under climate change. We expect to receive abstracts from all over the world for an exciting scientific program, focusing on interdisciplinary research and applications, including modeling of hydraulics, hydrology, and ecology. Our goal is to provide a space for practitioners and researchers to exchange ideas and present state-of-the-art scientific advances on ecohydraulics and fish passage through a range of exciting thematics: ecohydraulics modeling, stream restoration, fish biology, bioengineering, and more!

The conference will lead to special issues in peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Canadian Water Resources Journal special issue on Advances in Ecohydraulics, Journal of Ecohydraulics). Our program will feature keynote speakers:

The conference will start on Sunday with selected workshops on thematics linked to the ecohydraulics and fish passage areas, as well as an EcoNet workshop targeting students and young professionals. The conference also provides the opportunity to do half day technical tours and excursions featuring ecohydraulics and fish passage applications while enjoying Québec’s nature.

Details on the abstract submission and other information to prepare your trip coming soon!

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Quebec City!

Call for AWARD NOMINATIONS

The nomination forms for the Fish Passage Career Achievement Award and the Distinguished Project Award are now open.

The Career Achievement Award recognizes the efforts of an influential professional whose contributions to the field of fish passage have enhanced fisheries resources.

The Distinguished Project Award is intended for projects that use innovation and technical excellence to achieve ecological gain for fish passage, river connectivity and improved habitat for endangered and native species. An ideal project for the award would be one that exemplifies success and inspires greater application of fish passage restoration. It does not need to be a newly implemented project, in fact, projects that have had enough time to demonstrate effectiveness will more likely meet the evaluation criteria and have the highest chance of being selected. Projects that have been shared widely in professional papers or conference presentations are encouraged. Self-nomination is encouraged.
